A suspected bomb explosion occurred in a madrassa in Aybak, the capital of Samangan Province, Nov. 30. According to reports, the explosion took place while prayers were underway. Local officials have stated that the blast killed at least 15 people and wounded 27 more; the casualty toll may rise in the coming hours. Aybak is located 90 km (56 miles ) southeast of Mazar-e-Sharif.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, although local officials have blamed Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISK). Heightened security is likely in the impact area in the coming hours. Investigations could result in localized ground travel delays.
