As of Nov. 26, further protests are possible in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) following protests in the city Nov. 25. Residents held protests after a fire in a residential building the night of Nov. 24-25 left approximately 10 people dead. Protesters were denouncing prolonged COVID-19 lockdown measures, which they claim delayed victims from evacuating the burning building, thereby causing their deaths. There were no reports of violence stemming from the protest, and no further related actions have been reported Nov. 26.
