Activists affiliated with several organizations, including the Socialist Front (Frente Socialista) and Bayamon People's Assembly (Asamblea de Pueblo de Bayamon), plan to hold a protest in San Juan Nov. 29 to oppose a renewal of a contract between the island's government and the energy company LUMA. The contract expires Nov. 30, but authorities are in favor of extending it.

Demonstrators will gather along Calle La Fortaleza in the Viejo San Juan area starting at 17:00. Activists could also rally outside the governor's residence known as La Fortaleza. It remains unclear how many participants the event may draw; localized transport and business disruptions are likely.
