Security workers to strike at Brisbane (BNE) and Gold Coast (OOL) airports in Queensland State, Australia, Dec. 19. Confirm flights.

Warning

Event

Aviation security personnel and members of the United Workers Union have threatened to strike at Brisbane (BNE) and Gold Coast (OOL) airports in Queensland State Dec. 19 as part of an ongoing pay dispute with employers. Unless averted, the labor action will likely impact airport operations as strike participants plan to suspend screening and/or processing services at terminals.

Flight disruptions could extend for several hours after the end of the planned walkout as affected carriers reposition aircraft and/or work through any passenger backlogs.

OOL is located in Bilinga, approximately 19 km (12 miles) southeast of Gold Coast.

Advice

Confirm flight status for Dec. 19 if flying via BNE or OOL. Do not check out of accommodations and go to the airport until onward travel is guaranteed.
