India: Electricity workers to protest in Guwahati, Assam State, Dec. 15

Members of the Assam State Electricity Supply Workers' Union (ASESWU) are planning to protest outside the Bijulee Bhawan building in Guwahati's Paltan Bazaar area Dec. 15. Organizers are demanding restoration of an older pension scheme and regularization of temporary employees among others. The start time is unclear; workers may gather from the late morning through the afternoon. Dozens of workers may participate in the event, which is likely to pass peacefully.

Authorities will probably monitor the demonstration, especially if it is well-attended. Localized transport disruptions are possible if activists march on or block roadways near the rally site.
