Warning

Event

The Indian National Congress (INC) party will hold a march in parts of Haryana State Dec. 21-23 as part of its nationwide "Bharat Jodo Yatra" (Unite India March) campaign to mobilize grassroots-level political support. The column of participants will begin in the town of Firozpur Jhirka in Nuh District at 06:00 Dec. 21 before transiting various areas of Nuh, Gurgaon, and Faridabad districts; additional gatherings are likely in other areas across the state. Similar previous marches in other states attracted hundreds of participants. Organizers could change schedule or route details with little-to-no notice.

Security personnel will probably deploy to monitor the event. While violence is unlikely, minor skirmishes may occur if police attempt to forcibly disperse disruptive crowds. Localized transport disruptions are possible, especially near rally venues.

Context

The "Bharat Jodo Yatra" march began Sept. 7 to denounce the current policies of the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The route covers Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab states, as well as the capital Delhi. Organizers claim around 300 people will be participating in the march at any given time.

Advice
