Kuwait: Activists to protest in Kuwait City Dec. 20

Activists plan to protest in Irada Square, Kuwait City, from 19:30 Dec. 20. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce the government's decision to postpone a vote in the Finance Committee until the next parliamentary session. Activists are demanding better financial rights for all Kuwaiti people. Dozens to hundreds of people may attend the demonstration.

Increased security is likely near the affected area. The protest is unlikely to devolve into serious violence as authorities permit demonstrations at Irada Square due to the ease with which security forces can police gatherings. Ground travel disruptions throughout the evening of Dec. 20 are possible.
