Activists plan to demonstrate outside Parliament in Beirut from 10:00 Dec. 12 against the proposed capital control law, which would impose strict monthly withdrawal limits on bank savings. Protesters are concerned about losing some of their deposits due to unfavorable exchange rates. Dozens to hundreds of individuals could attend the gathering.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near Parliament the morning of Dec. 12. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
