Business owners plan to protest at the Port of Beirut from 12:00 Dec. 8 against the increase in the customs exchange rate. Protesters claim that imported items such as cars will be heavily affected. Dozens to hundreds of individuals could attend the gathering.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the Port of Beirut the afternoon of Dec. 8. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
