Lebanon: Telecommunications workers plan nationwide strike and protests Dec. 2

Unionized employees of telecommunications companies Alpha and Touch plan to strike nationwide 11:00-15:00 Dec. 2 following disagreements with their work contracts and salaries. Striking workers have also announced they would hold protests outside Alfa and Touch offices across the country.

The labor action could result in communications disruptions across Lebanon through the afternoon of Dec. 2. Increased security and localized transport disruptions are possible near protests. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
