Heightened security likely in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, beginning Dec. 3 after attack kills three police officers.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the Nowshera district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province over the coming days after gunmen killed three police officers in a Dec. 3 attack on a police station in Akora Khattak. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has reportedly taken responsibility for the attack.
Authorities could implement road checkpoints, increased patrols, and inspections of vehicles and pedestrians as police search for the perpetrators. Further armed clashes between security forces and the TTP could cannot be ruled out.
