A coalition of several Pan-African and Sankarist organizations plans to stage demonstrations nationwide Jan. 28. The purpose of the gatherings is to denounce alleged foreign influence in the affairs of the state, as well as to show support for the transitional government, among other things. Organizers have not announced any specific start times or rally locations; it remains unclear how many participants the events may draw.

Authorities will almost certainly deploy increased security to monitor any demonstration that may materialize. Localized traffic disruptions are likely. Confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all demonstrations to mitigate potential disruption. If violence breaks out nearby, immediately leave the area and take shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Plan accordingly for transport and business disruptions in areas subject to protest activity. Adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
