Explosions and gunfire have reportedly occurred in the Kotal-e Khair Khana area of Kabul as of late Feb. 26. The nature of the incident remains unclear; however, preliminary information suggests that the Taliban may have launched an operation in the area targeting an Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) hideout. As of yet, there have been no reports of casualties.

Heightened security is likely in the impact area over the coming hours. Disruptions to business operations and localized transport remain likely for the duration of the operation.
