Maldives: Hanimaadhoo International Airport to suspend nighttime flights indefinitely from March 1.
Maldives' Hanimaadhoo International Airport to suspend night flights indefinitely from March 1 due to facility upgrades.
Event
Officials at Hanimaadhoo International Airport (HAQ) plan to implement a partial flight suspension starting March 1 in order to allow for planned renovations to the facility. Under the directive, no flights will take place between 20:00-08:00; the measure will remain in effect indefinitely. As part of the move, Maldivian (Q2) will halt its flights between HAQ and Thiruvananthapuram's Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) in India.
Increased demand for available flights serving HAQ is likely during the suspension. Authorities anticipate renovations at the airport to be completed in 2024.
Advice
Contact air travel provider to confirm flights if traveling via HAQ. Book flights early, where possible; consider alternate arrangements for critical travel.
