Bombing in Police District 2 of Kabul, Afghanistan, March 27; at least six people killed.

Officials have stated that an earlier blast in Kabul’s Police District (PD) 2 was caused by a suicide bomber. The bomber was identified and then shot on approach to a security checkpoint near the Malak Asghar intersection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The blast killed at least six people and injured at least 12 others; security personnel were among the injured. There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack. The casualty figure may be adjusted in the coming hours.

Heightened security and road closures are likely in the impact area in the coming hours. Investigations could result in localized ground travel delays.
