India: Authorities to close section of National Highway 48 in New Delhi through June 12 due to planned road construction work

Authorities to close section of National Highway 48 in New Delhi, India, through June 12 due to planned road construction work.

Informational

Event

The National Highways Authority of India plans to close a 500-meter (0.3-mile) section of National Highway (NH) 48 between Rangpuri and Rajokri on the outskirts of New Delhi through June 12. The purpose of the move is to facilitate the construction of two underpasses and a bridge for Dwarka Expressway. Authorities have advised the public to allow additional time for travel to Gurgaon and Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) until the work has been completed and the roadway reopened.

Lingering disruptions may occur after the maintenance period concludes. Nearby roads will likely experience increased traffic congestion; demand for alternative means of transport will probably be higher. Truck freight delays are possible along the affected roadways through at least June 12.

Advice

Consider alternative driving routes to circumvent the construction area. Allow extra time to reach destinations due to increased traffic congestion and demand for alternative transportation.
