Warning

Event

Private medical doctors are continuing their ongoing indefinite strike and related rallies across Rajasthan State as of March 27. A protest march will occur late morning March 27 in Jaipur; the rally will start at the Sawai Man Singh Medical College, and pass Information Center, Maharani College, Ashok Marg, Rajput Sabha Bhavan, Panch Batti, Ajmari Gate, New Gate, and Albert Hall Museum, before reaching the start point again. Hundreds of participants are likely to join. Organizers are demanding the state government withdraw the Right to Health Bill. Additional demonstrations are likely in the coming weeks.

The strike commenced March 19, and has disrupted some elective and non-emergency services statewide. Additional service disruptions are possible March 29, when government doctors will hold a one-day strike in solidarity with the agitation.

Strike participants held several related demonstrations, including a disruptive protest march toward the State Legislative Assembly building in Jaipur March 20. Additional gatherings are most likely near healthcare facilities, including medical colleges, prominent government buildings, public squares, and major thoroughfares. Police typically deploy to monitor any large gatherings, and may forcibly prevent or disperse unauthorized or unruly crowds. Clashes between police and activists cannot be ruled out. Localized transport disruptions are likely during events with a sizable turnout.

Advice

Confirm all medical appointments, especially at private facilities. Prepare for delays at hospitals; confirm waiting times in advance if possible, as conditions will likely vary by facility. Allow additional time for travel near potential gathering sites. Avoid all demonstrations as a standard security precaution. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
