Israel: Protest ongoing outside prime minister's residence in Jerusalem as of late March 26
Protesters clash with police near prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, Israel, as of late March 26. Avoid all protests.
Event
Protesters are clashing with police near the Israeli prime minister's residence in Jerusalem as of late March 26. Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired the country's defense minister, Yoav Gallant, for urging the government to suspend its plans to overhaul Israel's judiciary. Protests in opposition to the plan have been occurring for several weeks and appear to be intensifying as the government has shown no sign of backing away from its stance.
Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely for the duration of the protests. Further clashes cannot be ruled out; the police may resort to teargas and other crowd-control measures to disperse the protesters.
Advice
Avoid the affected area. Consider alternative routes to circumvent the protest site, and allow extra time for travel. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
