Police are continuing to respond to a shooting incident in central Indianapolis, Indiana, late March 6. At approximately 21:45, an unknown assailant shot and killed a person outside the Lucas Oil Stadium. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) deployed to the scene and placed the Indianapolis Convention Center under lockdown. The police continue to search the area for the suspect. Authorities have closed surrounding streets to traffic. The motivation for the incident is currently unclear. There are no current reports of further casualties.

Heightened security is almost certain in the area over the coming hours, as are business and localized transport disruptions.
