Malaysia: Pro-Palestinian activists plan to march in Kuala Lumpur April 14
Pro-Palestinian activists plan to march from Tabung Haji building to US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 14. Disruptions possible.
Event
Pro-Palestinian activists plan to demonstrate in Kuala Lumpur April 14 to mark International Quds Day, an annual event to express support for Palestinians. Participants plan to gather at the Tabung Haji building along Jalan Tun Razak from 14:00 before marching toward Dua Residency beside the US Embassy's front gate. Organizers claim that around 1,000 people will attend the action. The US Embassy will close its front entrance to pedestrians from 12:00 until the end of the demonstration.
Authorities will almost certainly deploy increased security at the protest sites and nearby areas as a precaution. Localized traffic and business disruptions are possible. While the gathering will most likely pass peacefully, clashes between police and demonstrators cannot be ruled out. Security forces may arrest participants if they deem demonstrators to be overly disruptive.
Advice
Avoid the protest sites April 14 due to increased security measures and possible clashes. Plan for possible localized transport and business disruptions. If violence occurs nearby, immediately depart the area and seek shelter at a nongovernment building. Heed all official security and transport advisories.
