Vanuatu: Air Vanuatu flight disruptions ongoing nationwide as of April 3

Flight disruptions ongoing in Vanuatu April 3 due to Air Vanuatu mechanical issues. Reconfirm flight schedules.

Warning

Event

Air Vanuatu (NF) flight disruptions are ongoing in Vanuatu due to a mechanical issue with their only Boeing 737 aircraft, which serves routes between Port Vila, Vanuatu, to Brisbane and Sydney in Australia, and Auckland in New Zealand. The plane has been out of commission since March 31 and the airline has not yet found a replacement plane to serve the route, affecting hundreds of passengers. Travelers from New Zealand can enter Vanuatu via New Caledonia or Fiji with an overnight stopover.

Lingering flight disruptions may continue beyond the suspension as the airline works to resolve passenger backlogs.

Advice

Confirm flights if traveling with NF. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Monitor local media for updates on the status of the situation. Consider booking alternative travel arrangements if necessary.
