Environmental activists affiliated with the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement plan to protest outside the Adelaide Convention Centre May 18 to oppose an annual oil and gas conference taking place at the location. Related demonstrations on the morning of May 17 resulted in temporary traffic disruptions along Morphett Street bridge and a suspension of tram services along North Terrace. Dozens of participants could attend the action.

Authorities will increase security near the convention center; roadblocks are possible, especially on North Terrace and Montefiore roads. Activists may block and/or march along nearby roadways. Localized transport disruptions are likely. While the demonstration will probably remain largely peaceful, minor confrontations between police and protesters could occur.
