Heightened security is likely on the A365 Bishkek-Krasnaya Rechka Road in central Dmitrievka over the coming hours following a shootout between a wanted terrorism suspect and police in the area earlier on May 17. Police cordoned off the road during the operation to detain the suspect before an exchange of gunfire ensued, which left the suspect dead and two security force personnel wounded.

Police have since reopened the road; however, lingering transport and business disruptions are likely while investigations continue.

Dmitrievka is located 27 km (17 miles) east of Bishkek.
