A magnitude-5.1 earthquake occurred in New Britain at 22:52 May 28. The epicenter was about 40km (25 miles) west southwest of Kimbe. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 141km (88 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout western New Britain.
