Police have secured Red River, New Mexico, as of early May 28 after multiple shooting incidents starting May 27. Reports indicate that groups of armed individuals opened fire starting in the late afternoon from moving motorcycles on local streets in connection to the 41st Annual Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally. According to authorities, the shootings were likely gang-related. Police report they have arrested all suspects connected with the incidents and removed all active threats; however, they ask the public to avoid Red River until further notice. At least three people have been killed and five injured. The Holy Cross Hospital has been declared secured. An emergency curfew has been placed on Taos until 04:00 May 28.

A heightened security presence is likely in the area over the coming hours as they work to investigate the incident. Localized transit and business disruptions are likely.

Red River is approximately 38 km (23 miles) northeast of Taos.
