Authorities have reportedly imposed heightened security measures around Dar al-Amal University Hospital in Douris, Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, as of late June 14 after armed clashes broke out between soldiers and gunmen near the facility earlier in the day. The clashes, which broke out after the gunmen attempted to surround the facility, left at least one gunman dead and a hospital worker wounded. The fighting also prompted the closure of nearby roads leading to the hospital. Although authorities have arrested some individuals and seized weapons and ammunition in connection with the incident, unconfirmed reports suggest that security forces were still searching for additional armed persons in the vicinity of the hospital as of late June 14. Most patients have evacuated the facility.
