Taliban authorities have confirmed that a vehicle-borne explosion occurred earlier in the Police District 2 area of Taloqan, Takhar Province, Aug. 15. While officials have indicated the incident has left two civilians injured, reports also purportedly suggest that at least four Taliban security personnel were killed and an unspecified number of others were left wounded. No group has as yet claimed responsibility for the incident. Officials are likely to provide updates over the coming hours.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence as investigations continue. Associated localized transport disruptions are possible.
