Supporters of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Prime Minister Imran Khan are possible nationwide in the coming days following his sentencing and arrest, Aug. 5. Khan received a three-year sentence for a corruption-related case. He was taken into custody at his residence at Zaman Park in Lahore.
Heightened security is likely in and around Zaman Park through Aug. 5. Protests are possible in this area and cities nationwide, including in Islamabad. Protests could occur near government buildings, courthouses, city centers, and along major roads. Should protests occur, the threat of violence between demonstrators and police is elevated. Any protests will also likely result in localized ground travel delays.
