A few thousand activists have reportedly gathered since around 09:00 to denounce plans to evict residents of Rempang Island to develop the island into a new economic hub. Six security personnel have been injured in the clashes, according to local media sources. Police are using tear gas and water cannons to forcibly disperse the crowds.
