Activists affiliated with various civic groups will protest at the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue in Jakarta from 12:30 Sept. 20. Participants are denouncing government plans to evict residents of Rempang Island to develop the region into a new economic hub. Organizers expect up to a few thousand participants.

Authorities will deploy at least 1,000 security personnel around the protest site. Officials will also enforce traffic restrictions in the affected area, including along Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. Associated transport disruptions are probable. Isolated clashes may occur between police and activists, posing incidental risks to bystanders.
