Flight operations have resumed at Rabaul Airport (RAB), East New Britain Province, as of the morning of Sept. 14. The airport closed early Sept. 13 after a group of 25 unidentified people illegally entered the airport premises and robbed multiple computer systems from airline offices and check-in counters, as well as items from retail stores, in the terminal. Investigations prompted the suspension of all flights to and from RAB.

Residual flight disruptions are likely through Sept. 14 as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
