PNG: Flight disruptions possible at Mount Hagen Airport from Sept. 27 due to runway repair works
Flight disruptions possible at Mount Hagen Airport (HGU), Papua New Guinea, from Sept. 27 due to runway repair works. Confirm reservations.
Event
The National Airports Corporation (NAC) has announced plans to conduct runway repairs at Mount Hagen (Kagamuga) Airport (HGU) in Western Highlands Province from Sept. 27. Officials will temporarily downgrade flights into HGU from the Fokker 100 to Q400 and then to Fokker 70 aircraft during the repair period, reducing passenger capacity for flights. Officials expect repairs to complete within two months.
Flight disruptions, including freight delays and consequent business disruptions, are possible through November until the maintenance period concludes.
Advice
Confirm flight reservations if traveling or routing cargo via HGU through November. Plan accordingly for possible air freight delays and business disruptions until repair work at the facility is completed.
