Activists plan to protest outside the Court of First Instance in Tunis from 09:30 Sept. 25. Protesters are demanding greater freedom of speech and showing solidarity with cartoonist Tawfiq Omrane. Authorities had detained Omrane for several hours Sept. 22 for his drawings mocking Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani. Dozens to a hundred individuals could attend the demonstration.
Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the Court of First Instance the morning of Sept. 25. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse
