Activists plan to protest in several cities across the UK on Sept. 30 to denounce state approval of an offshore oil drilling project in the North Sea. As of late afternoon, Sept. 28, rallies were scheduled for:

  • Cambridge: Senate House, Trinity Street 12:30

  • Edinburgh: Queen Elisabeth House, 1 Sibbald Walk 16:00

  • Liverpool: Barclays Bank, 48-50 Lord St. 10:30

  • London: Department of Energy Security and Net Zero building, 3 Whitehall Place 12:00

  • Sheffield: Town Hall, Pinestone Street 14:00-16:00

It is unknown how many participants may attend the demonstrations. Additional protests are possible in other urban centers across the country.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are possible near any protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers are possible.
