Canada: Autoworkers launch strike in several plants in Ontario starting Oct. 10

Unionized autoworkers have launched an indefinite strike affecting several assembly plants in Ontario, Canada, starting Oct. 10.

Unionized autoworkers, affiliated with the Unifor union, have launched an indefinite strike affecting several General Motors (GM) assembly plants in Ontario, Oct. 10. Approximately 4,300 workers have joined the strike impacting the GM Oshawa Assembly and CCA Stamped products plant in Oshawa, the Powertrain plant in St. Catharines, and the Parts Distribution Centre in Woodstock.

Associated protests are possible near the affected plants and other GM offices throughout the province as long as the strike continues. Transport disruptions are possible near protest areas. Business and supply chain disruptions are possible while the strike continues.
