Warning

Authorities plan to conduct a WWII ordnance disposal operation in Main-Kinzig District, Hanau, from 16:30 Oct. 30 following the discovery of a bomb earlier in the day. Authorities are implementing a 500 meters (1,640 feet) evacuation zone around the intersection of Industrieweg and Birkenhainer Strasse, the ordnance site. Rail traffic connecting Hanau Central Station and eastern destinations (Bavaria and Fulda) will be suspended from 16:00. The B43A highway will be closed between the Wolfgang and Hanau Hafen intersections. Authorities ask drivers to avoid the evacuation area from 16:00. It is unclear how long the operation will last.

Heightened security and transport disruptions may continue for several hours after the operation is completed.

Avoid the area until authorities give the all-clear. Allow additional time if traveling near the affected area. Reconfirm all rail travel involving Hanau Central Station and eastern destinations. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
