Warning

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a rally at New Delhi's Vijay Chowk from 17:00 Oct. 31 to conclude the party's Meri Maati Mera Desh ("My Soil, My Country") political campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the gathering. Foreign dignitaries will also attend the event. The gathering could draw a very large crowd. Additional BJP-sponsored events are also planned. Potential gathering sites include prominent government buildings, sports stadiums, public squares, and thoroughfares.

Authorities will almost certainly maintain an increased security presence near Vijay Chowk and other potential event sites. A traffic advisory will remain in effect near the Vijay Chowk Area 09:00-21:00 Oct. 31; officials will make exemptions for public emergencies. Additional security restrictions are possible to facilitate the event. Minor skirmishes between police and activists, as well as between supporters of rival political camps, cannot be ruled out. Localized business disruptions are also possible.

Exercise caution near any sites where gatherings materialize. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near demonstration locations. Plan accordingly for localized business disruptions. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
