Emergency services continue to respond to a fire at the Rawa Kucing Landfill in Tangerang, Oct. 23. The fire, the cause of which remains under investigation, began on Oct. 20. Officials have evacuated residents in the vicinity of the impact area. Flights were temporarily diverted at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) on Oct. 21. An estimated containment date of the fire is unclear.
Officials will almost certainly remain deployed in the affected area until the fire is extinguished. Authorities could extend or rescind evacuations at short notice. Road closures are likely near the landfill. Further disruptions are possible at CGK depending on the direction of the smoke plume.
