Informational

According to local media sources, police are maintaining tight security at Townsquare Surabaya shopping mall (Sutos) amid a demonstration by hundreds of supporters of Persebaya football club outside the club's management office the morning of Oct. 30. Protesters are demanding accountability from the management for Persebaya's consecutive defeats in an ongoing tournament. Up to a few thousand people could join the rally.

A heightened security presence will probably continue in the affected area over the coming hours. Associated localized transport disruptions are likely, especially along Jalan Hayam Wuruk. Scuffles are possible between protesters and police, especially if participants are overly disruptive.

Avoid the protest site as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Allow additional time for journeys in the affected area. Heed all official directives. Leave an area at the first sign of unrest.
