Workers rallying at UN Office, Jakarta, Indonesia, morning Oct. 27. Related protest planned at Merdeka Palace 13:00. Disruptions likely.
Workers affiliated with the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) are rallying outside the UN Office in Jakarta as of the morning of Oct. 27. Participants plan to gather outside the Merdeka Palace from 13:00. Demonstrators demand a 15 percent increase in the minimum wage by 2024 and an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict. Up to several thousand people are likely to join the protests.
A heightened security presence is likely around the protest sites. Associated transport disruptions are probable, especially if demonstrators march along or block roadways. Isolated clashes may occur between police and activists, posing incidental risks to bystanders.
Avoid the protest sites as a precaution and to minimize travel delays. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near gathering sites. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
