A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred in Morobe Province at around 09:24 Oct. 24. The epicenter was about 33 km (21 miles) east-northeast of Bulolo. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 54 km (34 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in Morobe, Eastern Highlands, Chimbu, eastern Madang, eastern Gulf, northern Central, and northern Oro provinces.
