Authorities have reportedly fired tear gas to disperse a protest led by teachers at Palam Thuna Junction in the Battaramulla area of Colombo District on the afternoon of Oct. 24. Dozens of teachers were reportedly marching to the Ministry of Education to make several demands. Traffic disruptions are ongoing along Borella-Kottawa Road. There are no immediate reports of casualties. The motive behind the dispersal is unclear.
