Activists from the People's Movement for a Just Society (P-Move) are staging a sit-in protest at the Government House in Bangkok until at least Oct. 20. Dozens of demonstrators have occupied the area since the evening of Oct. 2. Participants demand civil and land rights. Organizers may cancel the rally at short notice if negotiations with officials succeed.

A heightened security presence will likely continue around the protest site over the coming days. Localized transport disruptions are possible, especially if activists march on or block nearby streets. Clashes between police and protesters may occur, mainly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
