Extinction Rebellion (XR) and other groups are denouncing the impact of the fossil fuel industry on the climate. Protesters have blocked roads in the vicinity. Police are responding to mitigate the impact of the demonstrations. Further protests are likely throughout the duration of the conference.

Authorities will almost certainly continue to deploy increased security in the vicinity of the Intercontinental Hotel. Other protests are likely at fossil fuel-related business headquarters. Demonstrators may block other roads in central London at short notice. Security-related transport disruptions are possible. Although the gatherings will probably remain largely peaceful, low-level clashes and acts of vandalism cannot be ruled out.
