Authorities lift shelter-in-place order Oct. 27 following shootings in Lewiston, Maine, US; suspect found dead. Disruptions likely.

Authorities have lifted the shelter-in-place orders for all of Androscoggin County, which includes Lewiston, and northern Sagadahoc County, late Oct. 27. Officials have also found Robert Card dead near Lisbon in Androscoggin County; Card was the suspect in two shooting incidents that occurred in Lewiston, Maine, the evening of Oct. 25. The motivation for the shootings remains unclear.

At least 18 people are dead and 13 others injured from the incidents, which occurred at the Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley along Mollison Way and the Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant on Lincoln Street. Officials have previously closed schools in the areas impacted by the shelter-in-place orders and canceled multiple events scheduled for Oct. 27-29.

The heightened security posture will almost certainly continue in the affected area over the coming hours as police investigate the incident. Lingering transit and business disruptions are likely.
