US, Canada: Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrations to continue in multiple cities through at least early November /update 9

Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli activists to rally in several cities across US and Canada through early November. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Further rallies by pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli activists are likely across the US and Canada through at least early November in reaction to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Organizers have announced the following specific gatherings in support of the Palestinian people through Nov. 5:

US

  • Minneapolis: Minneapolis Federal Building, 17:00 Nov. 1

  • Nashville: Centennial Park Entrance, 13:00 Nov. 4

  • San Francisco: Civic Center, 13:00 Nov. 4

  • Washington, DC: Freedom Plaza, 14:00 Nov. 4

Canada

  • Montreal: Conseil des Relations Internationales de Montreal, 11:30 Nov. 1

  • Halifax: Public Gardens, 12:00 Nov. 2

  • Vancouver: Vancouver Art Gallery, 11:00 Nov. 4

  • Toronto: US Consulate, 14:00 Nov. 4

Most demonstrations will probably draw thousands of attendees, with participation in the tens of thousands likely at the Washington, DC, and Toronto protests. Further demonstrations are possible in other cities. Such events may occur near Israeli or Palestinian diplomatic offices, synagogues, mosques, identifiably Jewish or Palestinian business premises, public squares, universities, and major government buildings. Counter-protests could occur in some locations. A heightened security presence is likely near protest sites. Associated localized transport and business disruptions are probable. Clashes between rival demonstrators or police and protesters are possible; acts of vandalism cannot be ruled out.

Additionally, some schools and religious centers may close or limit their hours of operation; extra deployments of police or private security are possible near such locations.

Exercise caution near any protests that may materialize. Heed instructions from authorities. Plan for localized road travel delays. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
