A magnitude-6.0 earthquake occurred in the Coral Sea, approximately 56 km (35 miles) west-northwest of Isangel, Vanuatu, at around 15:32 Oct. 29. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 79 km (49 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout much of southern Vanuatu and parts of Loyalty Islands in New Caledonia. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
