Canada: Activists plan protest in Mississauga, Nov. 2
Pakistan diaspora activists plan protest at Mississauga Celebration Square in Mississauga, Canada, Nov. 2.
Supporters of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan plan to protest at Mississauga Celebration Square in Mississauga, Nov. 2. Mississauga is located immediately southwest of Toronto. The protest is scheduled from 19:00-21:00 and will be preceded by a "hunger strike" from 10:00-19:00. It is not clear if the strike will be held at the same venue as the later protest. A few hundred people are likely to participate in the event, which is to call for Khan's release; he is currently incarcerated in Pakistan.
Officials will likely deploy security personnel to monitor the gathering. Some localized ground travel disruptions are likely as participants arrive and later depart the area. Violence is unlikely.
Exercise caution near the impacted area. Heed official advisories. Plan for some short-term and localized ground travel delays near Mississauga Celebration Square through Nov. 2.
