Increased security likely after unidentified assailants kidnapped a Chinese foreign national and Congolese counterpart near Kalemie, Tanganyika Province, around 14:00 on Nov. 6. Reports indicate that the victims were traveling along the Kalemie-Kabimba route when they were abducted. As of Nov. 9, reports indicate that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of USD 40,000 for their release.

Security forces may establish roadblocks, checkpoints, and search vehicles, prompting localized transport disruptions in the area. Armed clashes involving kidnappers and security forces cannot be ruled out.
