France: Flight disruptions likely at airports nationwide Nov. 28 due to Air France personnel strike

Unionized Air France personnel to strike in France Nov. 28. Flight disruptions likely nationwide.

Warning

Flight disruptions are likely at airports across France during an Air France (AF) strike scheduled on Nov. 28, with a demonstration organized at Paris Orly Airport (ORY). Unionized Air France workers are protesting the company's decision to withdraw operations from ORY. Labor union CFDT will lead the demonstration at ORY from 11:00 on Nov. 28. The strike will involve AF personnel nationwide.

Flight cancellations and delays, as well as diversions to nearby major airports, could extend for several hours beyond the end of the strike as operators reposition aircraft and work through passenger backlogs. Authorities are likely to deploy law enforcement officers in ORY to monitor the demonstration. Violence is not anticipated.

Confirm flight status of Air France bookings on Nov. 28. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Arrive at the airport early to prevent your seat from being allocated to a standby passenger.
